When I turned fifty years old, something deep and undeniable stirred inside of me…and I knew. The time had finally come. It was time to tell my story.
I was able to overcome the profound anxiety of opening up about my life because I believe it is our stories (possibly more than anything else we have to give) that can make the biggest difference in the lives of others.
When we hear how someone else “just like us” overcomes adversities and hardships, our own spines stiffen and we find the tenacity to try again. We realize that maybe hope is a strategy, that tomorrow will be a better day, and that we are braver, stronger and smarter than we think we are.
Sometimes the best (and only) way to give someone hope is not to give advice, but to simply share our story. We learn from one another and boost each other’s faith in this way. If someone else can do it, then I can too.
So, for those of you who have always felt like an outcast, who have never felt like you belonged, or who have felt unworthy of life, may you not only come to understand and resolve some of the events that have shaped you, but may your purpose, your calling, and the fire and passion of your heart be ignited again through this book.
No matter how heart-wrenching your past may have been, I want you to know you were Made For More™.
In joyful loving service,
ABOUT THE BOOK
When Leah, a cantankerous and disillusioned hospice patient asks the seemingly perfect and “high-falutin’” Manna to tell her her life story, she has no idea that she is opening a Pandora’s box of secrets. It begins in 1960s China, when little Manna first perceives God and has her first heavenly encounter. Following her to Canada and, eventually, the United States, this autobiographical novel is the story of a little girl trapped by culture, convention, rules, societal expectation, abuse – and of the woman who had to overcome it all.
Where is God? Does He exist? Does He care? Does he really talk to us? Unaware of His divine plan, how can we assume anything but that we are somehow being punished when we are besieged with troubles? If you have ever asked yourself these questions, then Manna’s story about her journey through devastating losses and trauma into a rewarding life of freedom and peace will be a tremendous encouragement to you.
“How do you describe a force of nature like Manna? Seldom does heaven pack so much into one person… She is extraordinarily gifted and driven by a passion born of the knowledge that she is made for more―an appropriate title for her riveting book. In every way, Manna is exceptional. Made For More combines the reflective depth of her Asian roots with the buoyant optimism of an American overcomer and success story. To read this book is to meet the woman. Read it and meet your new friend, Manna Ko.”

“I know of very few people that carry and give away more compassion than Manna. Whether advising someone through a marketplace dilemma, standing with someone through a life crisis, or simply ‘speaking the truth in love,’ no one is more capable than Manna. So, it is no surprise she, at long last, chooses to tell her own story―and in the most creative of ways. Digging deep and exposing her own pain, she offers hope and healing to others who follow where she came from and endeavor to go where she is now. She risked in love to help others get free, and courageously lets us into her life to tell a story that will capture every reader…and we all win.”

“Honest, moving and compelling! The reader is completely captivated from the first page of this epic life story, and as each riveting scene is unveiled, we are equally enthralled to see the ever-present sense of God’s hand at work in the midst of human brokenness. This story will break your heart and put it back together again. Bravo on this great work, Manna! Thank you for courageously sharing your remarkable story, and laying it all down so that others can have hope for a better tomorrow. Made For More is a game-changer. Lives are going to be touched and transformed around the world.”
